About me

I’m a 50 something year old who is trying to find his career calling in the fourth quarter. But there is more to me that that.

Family

I’m blessed to be the husband of a beautiful and amazing wife and father to a very smart and independently minded teenager. There is nothing more rewarding and important to me than my family. They are my biggest supporters.

My family instantly approved when I floated the idea of a strategic career break.

Career

I’m an electrical engineer and I have transformed my career over the years. This includes leadership in design, projects, people, clients and business strategies. My industry is the energy sector and my focus is the transmission and distribution of electricity. This is a very important sector in my state of New South Wales, where the move to a renewable supply of electricity is high on the agenda. As a result, massive investment will be required over the next 10 years.

I am passionate about my industry and therefore consider myself fortunate to be involved in it at such a busy and exciting time.

Exploring

I am currently interested in exploring a few areas during my career break.

Firstly, how can leaders achieve the best outcomes for their business while also enabling the best outcomes for their people?

Secondly, for those of us in the fourth quarter of our career, how can we rediscover our calling if we have lost the spark?

Finally, how can business leaders facilitate that change and use it to the benefit of the industries we work in?

I’m taking a short career break to rediscover my calling in the fourth quarter of my career.
This forum will allow me to share my thoughts with you and I hope to get yours in return. Hopefully I will inspire others along their own career journey as well.
