Interactive ikigai survey results
“What are they offering you? We’ll match it!”
This is often the first response from a manager when a good employee offers their resignation. Although it does work – sometimes… – it’s very misguided and, with a few exceptions, completely misses the point.
In my recent article “Are you living you calling? Check your ikigai!” I wrote about the Japanese concept called ikigai and the relationship between four key aspects of one’s occupation in the context of career / life balance. Loving what you do, doing what you’re good at, providing something that the world needs, and getting paid for what you do.
I included a survey to gauge how people rated their own career against the four questions. If you haven’t yet had a chance to complete the survey, you may wish to do this here first so that you can see your own ikigai chart before reviewing the results below. The survey takes about a minute to complete and will give you a better understanding of what the results represent.
The charts below are live (updated as soon as new surveys are submitted) and can be filtered to isolate specific career related demographics. As is always the case with data, the more of it that there is, the better the overall accuracy will be. This is particularly true when filtering to options where there have only been a few responses.
As usual, I would love to get your thoughts on the results. I will be adding my thoughts soon, but really want to hear from you. Please provide comments at the end of the page or contact me directly.
